I started life as a baby.
I grew up in Everett and went to elementary, junior high, and high school. I left Everett and moved to southern California to surf. I was drafted into the Army in January 1967 but ended up in Germany until I was sent back to America in December 1968 to attend Everett Community College.

I was a college student hippy.
My college years followed my getting out of the Army and receiving the GI Bill for my education. I started at Everett Community College and transfered to the University of Washington. In 1975 I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. From there I went to California State College in Bakersfield. I took the Master Degree program in Clinical Psychology but didn’t finish my master’s thesis because I couldn’t get the equipment I needed for three more months. I left Bakersfield and returned back to Everett where I got a job as a fireman in 1978. During my twelve years as a fireman I taught EMT’s for Snohomish County for five years. I was recruited to teach the Firefighter basic training course for the Washington State Fire Training Service out of Olympia. I trained many of the fire departments that mainly stationed by community volunteers. In 1988 I went back to the University of Washington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1990. I worked as a senior software engineer being a full stack developer until 2015 when I retired.
Over the years I grew older.
When I left the fire department I began my software career. My first job was creating a Risk Management application for corporations that wanted to handle any insurance claims themselves. I wrote the framework for the application and during the three years ten more developers were hired. I left after three years and contracted at Microsoft. I worked on an application that was attached to Microsoft Exchange. My task was to write code that took information from the user interface and move it into the database. After that application was completed I went to help the Visual Basic 4 marketing group write a demo for Bill Gates to show the newest features of Visual Basic 4. From there I was the first hire at Captura. There were only seven of us working at the time with four of us being in development. I did a lot of different positions during my time there. We started using Visual Basic. I was again tasked to write code that allowed the user interface to move data into the database. We did something different at the time. we didn’t sell the software to the customer. We had a subscription based plan that our customers paid monthly. We ended up with large corporations using our travel and expense applications. Another unique process we did was to use the email systems to get the data from the employee to their supervisors. I wrote all the email code to make that happen. It ended up that Visual Basic had a limiting factor that made email traffic have a cap on about 50 logged in users on the servers. Myself and another developer re-wrote the whole application in java from Visual Basic. Once I completed that I moved all the data out of the SQL Server database into Oracle database. Eventually Captura got sold to our competitor, Concur. I was one of the few employees that went to Concur. I worked at Concur for about three years before I got back together with my Captura developers who started the company. This new project was Kaseya, an application that managed hardware and software remotely. Kaseya was designed to be a ‘help desk’ for smalll companies that couldn’t afford to hire someone to do those tasks. I wore many different hats dong many different jobs at Kaseya. I was layed off when Kaseya was trimming down to sell to another corporation. This was the first time n over ten years I actually had to send out a resume to find work. In about ten days I got a job at Pharmacy One an application that managed hospital pharmacies. I was mainly a code writer there and work with both java and C#. I finally got laid off when I was 69 years old and called it quits for the software industry.

One of my passions was playing pool.
